Sarah Flower Adams

Sarah Flower Adams was an English poet and hymnwriter who lived from 1805 to 1848. She was a radical thinker and a friend of many prominent reformers and writers of her time. She is best known for writing the hymn “Nearer, My God, to Thee”, which expressed her religious doubts and was played by the band as the Titanic sank.
